5th Annual International Conference on the Globalization of Class Actions Focuses on "Facts on the Ground"
On Dec.8 - 9, more than 100 judges, lawyers and academicians came together in the beautiful Raad van State to share information and perspectives on the evolution of class actions and group litigation procedures world-wide. In her opening address, Prof.
Stefaan Voet (University of Ghent) sends us this Note on a conference discussing future prospects for collective litigation of consumer claims in Europe, organized by the European Consumers Organization and the Belgian Consumers Organization. Prof. Jasminka Kalajdzic is organizing a conference to be held March 28-29, 2011 at the University of Windsor aimed at assessing the growth of class actions in English Canada over the past decade. Approximately 60 practitioners and academics from South and North America, Europe and Australia met at Florida International University Law School in Miami on Dec. 10 - 11, 2010 to share information, perspectives and research plans regarding class actions and other forms of collective litigation.
